How do we empower communities?
We draw from the principles from positive psychology and Asset Based Community Development approaches to actively recognise the strengths and resources in a community that support people to become more involved in their own health and care, and help enhance the wider system.
"An asset is any factor or resource which enhances the ability of individuals, communities and populations to maintain and sustain health and well-being. These assets can operate at the level of the individual, family or community as protective and promoting factors to buffer against life’s stresses" - Antony Morgan, NICE
Our Empowering Communities programmes
We work to empower communities at 3 levels:
Community Assets
Helping people in local communities recognise their own assets and the resources around them
Community Leadership
Building knowledge, skills and confidence in those who actively contribute to their local health and social care systems
Co-Productive Leadership
Enabling community members and health and social care professionals to make a sustainable difference
