CoachingForYou is based on the Looking After You Service which was, as far as we know, the largest and best evaluated coaching service ever undertaken in the UK. Commissioned by NHS England in March 2020, originally to support NHS primary care staff through the challenges of the Covid pandemic, it ran until March 2024. The service delivered 38,000 coaching sessions to over 13,000 NHS staff. Services included health and wellbeing coaching, career coaching and coaching for team managers and leaders. It was expanded to include virtual team away days and peer support sessions. It included a service for all NHS staff from an ethnically diverse background to access health and wellbeing coaching, delivered by ethnically diverse coaches. The service was available to staff at every level and available at flexible days and times (out of hours) to meet the needs of the NHS workforce.
TPC Health were commissioned to support the design and development of the Looking After You services. We were subsequently commissioned as Lead Provider working in partnership with NHS England to manage the services. We had a large team of coaches working across all the services; this experience gave us unrivalled insight into the challenges that NHS staff face and a deep understanding of the context that NHS staff are working in. As well as our extensive experience delivering the Looking After You coaching services, we have provided many other coaching programmes for organisations within the health and care sector, across a broad range of areas – leadership coaching, executive coaching, team coaching, health and wellbeing coaching career coaching, and coaching supervision. Clients include NHS Trusts, PCNs, ICBs Leadership Academies as well as charities, VCSEs and NGOs.
The service was independently evaluated by the Institute of Employment Studies. Across the four services, each was shown to yield lasting statistically significant improvements for staff as follows:
Overall, 99.8% of users felt listened to and supported; and 99% reported feeling able to move forward after their sessions. You can view case studies from the evaluation here and the Evaluation Report here

“My coach is an incredible listener, helps me get right to the point of what I’m struggling with at a certain time and what will help move forward. After every session I have left with an objective to work on and has allowed me to feel more positive about my job and the potential of a sustainable career. I’m really really grateful for this.”
“My coach is excellent at listening. I enjoy her style of allowing me to speak freely then delving deeper into certain aspects of what I have said/asking subsequent questions for me to reflect on/answer. I can also see that she is knowledgeable about the process of finding work which is of great help to me in my current phase.”
“I really enjoyed meeting my coach over the last 7 months. I felt listened to and supported. We came up with some great ideas for my teams and how to adapt to their needs. I’ve learnt to remember to look after myself and have a good work life balance. I do believe I have achieved this. I have recommended this service to friends and colleagues. Many thanks.”
