Discover our leadership supervision expertise
While every client’s supervision needs are different, our programmes of supervision can be made bespoke to meet individual needs, a typical series of individual supervision sessions tends to include:

1:1 Leadership Supervision
Individualised: A 1:1 relationship between the leader and the supervisor. The supervision is tailored specifically to the leaders needs, challenges, and professional goals.
Private and Confidential: The leader can speak openly and in detail about their organisatioanl challenges, personal experiences, decison making, and ethical concerns without any external influence. There’s a higher level of privacy in this setting.
Frequency: 1:1 supervision typically takes place on a more flexible schedule, often monthly or bi-monthly, depending on the leader’s needs and complexity of their role.
Format: In person or virtual

Group Leadership Supervision
Collective Setting: In group supervision, typically 5-6 participants meet with a supervisor in a group format. Leaders discuss their cases, challenges, and insights as part of the group experience.
Shared Learning: The group offers a space for coaches to share their perspectives and feedback. While the supervisor leads the session, much of the learning comes from the interaction between peers and the sharing of experiences.
Frequency: Group supervision usually takes place at regular intervals, such as monthly or quarterly, and is often more structured to allow time for sharing and receiving feedback.
Format: In person or virtual

Potential Supervision Topics
Leaders can bring any topic of their choice to leadership supervision, examples include:

2. Exploring team dynamics and resolving interpersonal challenges for stronger collaboration.
3. Navigating complex decisions with clarity, integrity, and strategic thinking.
4. Identifying patterns in leadership behaviour to enhance effectiveness and adaptability.
5. Understanding and learning from feedback

Effective Leadership Supervision requires the presence of a coach supervisor or other suitably qualified individual who directs the process and encourages the learning. The facilitator goes beyond just monitoring the process to also incorporate questions that raise awareness and create personal insights while supporting learning and development in the leader. In leadership supervision the supervisor uses directive and non-directive approaches, and also contributes examples of their own experiences where relevant.

We take a personalised approach to leadership supervision, understanding that each leader’s challenges and goals are unique. Our experienced supervisors draw on a range of reflective practices, coaching techniques, and evidence-based strategies to help healthcare leaders thrive in their roles. Our approach delivers the normative, formative and restorative functions of a supervision relationship as described below.
Normative: This provides a managerial, administrative or quality control function. This aspect focuses on making sure that the individual is complying with the specifications and expectations of their leadership role and practicing in a safe and effective manner.
Formative: This addresses the developmental aspects by focusing on monitoring, supporting and developing the leaders capacity for reflection and learning from their experiences.
Restorative: This aspect focuses on supporting the leader to explore challenging experiences where there are opportunities for learning and restoration. It can range from practical support to creating a safe space to dealing with the emotions generated by the individual’s experiences.
